HemaLogiX is an EMR-integrated software system that helps providers more effectively utilize blood products to improve patient care delivery and reduce healthcare costs. HemaLogiX, is designed to change behavior so that transfusions are clinically indicated providing benefit to the patient and reducing unnecessary risk. It is built on the premise that blood utilization decisions should be influenced by evidenced-based knowledge accounting for individual patient variables, not based solely on provider preference or historical behaviors. At the heart of HemaLogiX is the Transfusion Appropriateness Algorithm (“TAA”), which assesses transfusion “appropriateness” by assessing over 80 patient variables (e.g., vital signs, comorbidities & medications) and applying evidence-based knowledge curated with input from practitioners in over 30 different specialties and sub-specialties at University Hospitals. HemaLogiX also includes a data analytics platform that provides detailed insights to physicians about blood usage patterns.
