Kaia Health is delivered as a mobile app that can be downloaded on any smartphone or tablet (iOS / Android). Members can use their own personal device to access the Kaia program without the need for additional devices, sensors, or wearables. In addition, members can always connect with our care team via in-app chat and schedule 1:1 live sessions on phone or video.

Every day, the member receives a curated set of exercise, relaxation, and education activities, which refreshes on a daily basis based on the member’s feedback and progress. Members can always see their progress in the Kaia app, including activities completed, pain levels, sleep quality, and functional health measurements. Through the in-app chat, members can always contact their coach and schedule 1:1 live sessions, which are held through live chat, phone, or video. The Kaia app can be downloaded on the member’s own smartphone or tablet, with digital program content available 24/7 on a self-service basis.

Kaia Health's Motion Coach is the industry's first and only clinically validated motion analysis technology based on Computer Vision that provides real-time exercise instructions and feedback to ensure PT-grade digital care. Motion Coach utilizes AI and the front-facing camera of a smartphone or tablet to map over 57 key points along the body, tracking movement during an exercise session and providing real-time corrective feedback (audio+visual). The Kaia app is currently available in English, Spanish and German, with full multilingual accessibility across digital program content, voice-overs and FAQs. Our care team is hired full-time and based in the US, providing support in English and Spanish. We also have German-speaking support for our program in Germany.

Kaia Health will align with each client on which channels are most effective to communicate with your member population. Throughout the partnership, we continue to test and optimize communication channels based on effectiveness. Outreach usually happens via push notifications, text messages, emails, and direct mail. Members can always connect with our care team for assistance, who are available via in-app chat, phone, video, or email. In addition, we have incorporated WCAG 2.1 Level AA requirements into the app, including larger text sizes, enhanced contrast, improved readability, and simplified language to make the member experience as accessible and frictionless as possible.

Kaia Health proactively ensures that any form of bias is excluded from our motion technology: our Engineering team trains and tests the computer vision and machine learning algorithms of Motion Coach with data sets of subjects from diverse backgrounds before any product release. This ensures that our motion tracking and analysis works equally well across individuals of different backgrounds, regardless of their age, gender, race, ethnicity, and body shape, which was recently validated by a peer-reviewed clinical study.

Kaia Health's approach to pain management is centered around the biopsychosocial model, which looks at the relationship between the biological, psychological, and social determinants of a person's medical condition. Through this multimodal lens, we can address how the root causes of physical pain, psychological stress, and social determinants of health play a role in the pain management journey, rather than limiting interventions to only the physical aspect of pain. In the intake questionnaire, the Kaia app captures demographic information on each member and guides them through a comprehensive health assessment based on clinically validated questionnaires such as PROMIS. This ensures that we can capture a comprehensive overview of each member's background and condition for our care team, who are trained on the five domains of Social Determinants of Health (SDOH). Our approach is to help members identify the impact of musculoskeletal pain on their daily lives, and set goals accordingly to address the most impactful issue.   Throughout the program, we continue to capture regular health outcomes for each member, including daily prompts on pain level and sleep quality, monthly check-in surveys and functional ability measurement. These inputs inform the dynamic adjustments to each member's care plan, while alerting our care team of any members at risk. When appropriate, our care team can connect members to additional resources, whether that be another in-network provider, a vendor partner or a free / low-cost community program.
