Overdose of prescription medicine is now the #1 cause of accidental death in the US. Increasing awareness of this problem is placing doctors and practices under intense scrutiny. Under the guidance of pain management practitioners, with research grants and the support of several states, we developed the PASTRx Software as a Service (SaaS) to help doctors efficiently distinguish patients for whom controlled substances can safely be prescribed, from those who require more complex care or additional safety considerations. PASTRx provides multi-source data integration and synthesis, auditability, and institutional oversight in a robust and user friendly interface to protect patients, physicians and health-care institutions.
