Ability to provide multilingual and omni-channel options. No app download or authentication required for patients/members. Navigation and scheduling through existing channels, with provider launch from the EHR. Allow for patient link distribution to family members. Proxy support is provided.
Intake & Virtual Waiting Room

Bright.md provides an asynchronous virtual care solution in which a patient completes an online symptom assessment, which is reviewed by a provider who recommends a treatment plan and diagnosis. Data required for treatment is collected via a series of clinical interview questions that the patient provides answers to via multiple choice, open text, or by uploading a photo relative to their concern. Allergies, medications, and problem list for the patient is brought in from the EHR and made visible to the provider who is providing treatment.

AVIA GUIDE
What is intake & virtual waiting room?
Ability to handle digital form upload & intake. Integrated symptom checking. Waiting room accessible to patients, providers, and staff. Patient/member queueing. Patient can share images or videos. Integration with connected devices for vitals collection. Patient/member contact/chatting. Content for patients to interact with in the waiting room. Notify patient when provider is ready to start visit. Tool for patient to test tech feasibility
Diagnosis & Documentation

Bright.md translates the patient interview into a chart-ready SOAP note and makes it readily available via MDM interface for integration as an encounter in the EHR. Bright.md presents all necessary information for the provider to confirm the diagnosis, change the diagnosis, or escalate the patient to a higher modality of care if they feel that treatment cannot be provided asynchronously.

AVIA GUIDE
What is diagnosis & documentation?
Ability to leverage existing patient demographic/medical info. Support for documentation within the EHR. Auto-generation of clinical documentation. Review, confirm, or revise diagnosis, treatment options (including escalation to a higher acuity care setting), and care plan in a timely manner and within existing provider workflow tools. Bright.md provides in-depth reporting to our customers to measure their utilization and success over time. Specific reporting metrics include: Provider efficiency Interview utilization Common diagnoses Patient satisfaction and feedback Prescription volumes Escalation rates

AVIA GUIDE
What is analytics?
Ability to provide robust analytics such as provider utilization/productivity, average time per visit, most commonly treated conditions, resolution vs. escalations, volume by day and time, and patient feedback / where patient would have gone.
Virtual Encounter

Bright.md provides the software solution for health systems to treat 130+ diagnoses virtually, without the use of video (asynchronous telehealth). Patients complete an on-demand interview at any time that captures a thorough symptom assessment while ruling out potentially emergent conditions, just like a face-to-face visit with a clinician. Patients receive questions based on their answers, and if an emergent condition is suspected, the patient is escalated out, with recommended next steps configured by your system. Clinical decision support provides a recommended diagnosis and treatment plan derived from evidence-based guidelines, along with a SOAP formatted chart-note logged as an encounter in your EHR—allowing providers efficiency while preserving autonomy and clinical judgment. Once the provider completes the asynchronous visits, the patient receives a complete after visit summary with treatment instructions and education, along with any prescriptions sent electronically to their preferred pharmacy.

AVIA GUIDE
What is virtual encounter?
Ability to provide high-resiliency, high-latency video with ability to toggle to phone/audio and support for multi-party video. Patient education that can be annotated. Enable a consumer to alternate between modalities (text/chat/in-app messaging/secure portal). Asynchronous interview (including integrated symptom checking/virtual triage). Ability to “step up” to video visit or in person care if needed. Integration with connected devices, support for file sharing, screen sharing, and group chat. Notification for patients when provider has responded and vice versa. Ability to obtain patient feedback post encounter

Differentiators vs internal options

Our content is evidence-based and updated regularly based on the latest clinical guidelines. It is developed, constantly evaluated and updated based on user data and feedback, and maintained by a team of physicians, writers, and editors. Our Interview is available in English or Spanish with medically-certified translation, and all of our content is created at a 4th-grade reading level, removing medical jargon and using images as easy guides.

Because we've been building and refining our clinical content for more than eight years, improving with reviews and feedback from clinician leaders at some of the top health systems in the country, we've built a clinical content engine that cannot be replicated.

One of the Lead Clinicians at one client shared that he reviewed all of our content in detail and was "extremely impressed", sharing that it would "take thousands of hours of clinician time to even attempt".

Differentiators vs competitors

Robust, Proprietary Clinical Content

With Bright.md, your providers are reviewers of content, not creators. Our evidence-based content containing 29 unique interviews, and treating 130+ diagnoses, is developed and maintained by a team of board-certified physicians to keep yours focused on delivering care to patients.

Self-Service Administration

Respond quickly to changing demands with real-time access to custom care routing, interview activation, and more.

Bi-directional EHR Integration

Drive long-term care delivery efficiencies with asynchronous visits that are integrated into your clinical operations workflow.

Bright.md uses standard HL7 protocols and FHIR APIs to sync information that decreases the administrative burden on providers, while creating easy access for patients.

Great patient and provider satisfaction

When I was looking at Bright.md, there just wasn’t any company out there doing what they were. They are evidence-based, and a leader in asynchronous care. They have great patient and provider satisfaction because of the thoroughness and consistency of their clinical interviews, and the provider time required to deliver care to patients for low-acuity conditions was lower than anything we were doing internally.

Effective but needs some feature development; Great partners

Our engagement with BrightMD began in the first quarter of last year, primarily for asynchronous telehealth and low acuity care navigation. The care navigation tool was a standout - it generates substantial business and is prominently featured on our platforms.

While we faced some challenges with the asynchronous telehealth, we found it hard to pinpoint whether the difficulties stemmed from the vendor or the fact our demographics aren't particularly inclined to non-video telehealth services. There were certain critical features missing, such as two-way communication post-interview and progress indicators during the interview process. These are areas that competitors cover well.

BrightMD's customer service, on the other hand, is outstanding. They are receptive to feedback, are willing to improve their features, and have shown impressive openness during contract renewals. Their business partnership has been commendable. As we renew our contract, we're keen to see how they address the current performance issues and improve their product's features.

Q&A with Steve Giannini of Bright.md: Entering the Telehealth 2.0 Era
Bright.md’s asynchronous telehealth solution focuses specifically on low-acuity care, which drives down costs and increases provider capacity for higher-acuity patients. The Navigate solution captures symptoms and instantly guides patients to the appropriate level of care within the health system, with pathways that can be adjusted based on the time or chief complaint. The Interview offering utilizes a library of evidence-based clinical interviews to support diagnosis, with automated documentation and interoperable chart-ready SOAP notes. Providers can utilize the Treat solution to treat more than 140 low-acuity conditions in as little as two minutes, with instant diagnosis, prescriptions, and referrals.

A buyer’s guide to conversational AI
Conversational AI is an advanced technology that allows machines to understand, process, and respond to human language in a way that is both contextually relevant and interactive. Within the healthcare sector, this technology is increasingly deployed to automate routine tasks and deliver a more robust and personalized patient experience. Conversational AI leverages a combination of machine learning, natural language processing, and occasionally deep learning to interpret and respond to user inputs, with a conversational user interface that mimics human interaction. Digital health companies deploy conversational AI through chatbots, voice assistants, messaging apps, or any other type of platform where natural language interactions occur.

The Competitive Edge: Why Every Health System Needs a Robust Digital Front Door
Patients demand convenient healthcare access akin to online services. A robust digital front door, integrating online scheduling, telehealth, patient portals, symptom checkers, and payment management, is crucial. It offers a competitive edge by enhancing accessibility, patient loyalty, brand perception, market reach, revenue, and leveraging data for insights, ensuring health systems meet modern expectations and stay competitive. Modern patients rightly demand that healthcare access be as straightforward as ordering a meal online or hailing a ride, which is still far from the norm.

The Right Approach to Your Digital Front Door Enhances Patient Satisfaction and Retention
According to a report from Accenture, patients are increasingly switching providers, and at least a portion say it’s because of the digital experience. In fact, the report goes on to show that digital engagement is a strong predictor of loyalty. Increasingly, patients say they are less likely to stay with a provider who doesn’t provide a good digital experience, and a bad digital experience effects how they feel about their entire healthcare interaction. In other words, great care or bedside manner doesn’t mean a patient will stay if the rest of their experience doesn’t meet their needs.

Going beyond the digital front door to unlock precision healthcare through data and ecosystem unification
A consumer-grade digital patient experience solution must facilitate the holistic integration of all patient data, disparate technology solutions, and care services to deliver an experience that’s worth investing in — for both the patient and the health system at large. Otherwise, organizations risk introducing yet another fragmented solution into the market, one that fails to adequately address the diverse needs of patients.

Unlocking the true potential of healthcare RCM: How a digital front door makes all the difference
In today’s rapidly evolving healthcare landscape, optimizing revenue cycle management (RCM) in healthcare is paramount for providers aiming to maintain financial health while delivering exceptional patient care. However, traditional RCM solutions suffer from glaring inefficiencies that lead to frustrated patients and lost revenue. Enter the digital front door (DFD)—a holistic approach that enhances RCM by digitizing and centralizing various aspects of the patient journey. By streamlining everything from intake to bill pay, the DFD drives efficiency and addresses many of the shortcomings of traditional RCM along the way.

The doctor will see you shortly: Prepared for your visit, thanks to AI
As a practicing physician, I, like many others, can easily become overwhelmed by administrative burden and information overload. Seeing many patients in a matter of minutes, means I have limited time to digest relevant information from the patient chart that could positively impact the way I deliver personalized care. Every day, clinicians search through numerous tabs in the EHR to gather data before seeing patients —reviewing new labs, notes, and telephone encounters. This leaves less time for patient encounters and even less time to research evidence-based care based on unique patient experiences. This discrepancy between best practice and care delivered, coupled with lots of wasted physician time, leads to suboptimal patient outcomes.

Q&A with Steve Hendrix of m.Care: Improving outcomes with accessibility
We are LifeScience Technologies, a healthcare technology company and the developer of the m.Care® virtual care platform. During COVID, we all saw the benefits of being able to treat patients remotely or virtually. Healthcare delivery has changed forever, and now the challenge is in providing an engaging and easy-to-use technology platform that meets the needs of populations and individuals. Access to and communication with the patient’s care team is critical, and patient adherence to care plans is crucial to improving outcomes. For some patients, it is not financially feasible to supply expensive equipment like Bluetooth scales, connected blood pressure cuffs or wearable devices. Social determinants of health are another key consideration when delivering a solution to meet the needs of entire populations. The m.Care platform is designed for ease of use and to encourage and support patient engagement. Our platform supports both synchronous and asynchronous communication–all HIPAA-compliant with data encrypted. Our objectives are to drive better patient outcomes and patient satisfaction through a robust and highly configurable virtual care platform that can accommodate as many patients as possible, with accessibility features that include voice commands in multiple languages for patients who are physically unable to use other means to report data.
