Primary care physicians miss 90% of their patients’ behavioral health needs because they lack the time, training and tools. Untreated behavioral health adds $560 to the monthly cost of care for each patient with a chronic illness. The problem is especially acute in Medicaid where 40% of patients are at risk.Total US extra cost of comorbid behavioral health is estimated at $600 billion, and research shows significant savings with integrated care. Therefore, CMS is anxious to increase behavioral health care in federally qualified healthcare centers (FQHCs). So, it recently offered $350M in supplemental funding to add therapists and associated infrastructure. We give providers the additional support they need to deliver integrated care and achieve the desired savings and improved outcomes with increasing revenues.
