In addition to being able to answer patient queries throughout the day, Dr. Pratt believes he’s saving staff time spent taking and transmitting messages, which makes his practice run more efficiently. What’s more, since he fields more questions himself, he better understands where pre and post-operative instructions might not be sufficiently clear so he can make tweaks. “I knew I was very good at texting friends, family, my wife, and I was wondering, well, why can’t I just do this with patients?” Dr. Pratt says of his search for a text solution. “But if I wait until I’m home to reach back out to a patient, I’m going to forget or I’m not going to do it. And I know I’m not going to document it.” Not only are texts from Rhinogram HIPAA-compliant, they also are archived in the cloud. Dr. Pratt says installation was simple and the system easy to learn. In addition to texts, Rhinogram supports secure photo and document exchange as well as templates that can be used for care instructions or answers to commonly asked questions. “Rhinogram has made everything very streamlined for me. Every patient that I operate on, every patient that I see in consultation immediately has secure access to me, via Rhinogram,” Dr. Pratt says. “If they have a question that they forgot to ask me in consultation or if they have a question about what they’re supposed to do after surgery, I can simply text them an answer.” Dr. Pratt says the benefits of Rhinogram are multi-fold. The first is peace of mind, for both patients and the physician. Patients obviously benefit from direct access to the physician, to ask a question about a healing complication, an odd symptom or to receive a little reassurance that treatment is progressing as planned. But Rhinogram also gives Dr. Pratt peace of mind that his patients can cut through the medical office clutter that often gets in the way of physician/patient communication
