Description

Product Description:
Initial Insights is the first tier offering of the NICUtrition® platform. It provides the ability for a hospital to track key performance measures across the neonatal intensive care unit in a retrospective or prospective report. With a one-time data extract from a hospital’s EMR, including (up to) 5 years of historical information around feeding, growth and diagnoses, our Initial Insights reports will show milestones with 'smart' growth charts and z-scores and an outcomes analysis for the feeding and growth data collected at the individual patient and unit levels. Additionally, with EMR integration, Initial Insights is provided to the hospital via real-time access for ongoing analytics.
About Astarte Medical:
Setting the course for better health begins at the core. As a precision-care solution provider, Astarte Medical helps neonatal care professionals improve patient outcomes in the first 1,000 days of life by leveraging the power of automated software and predictive analytics to deliver personalized nutritional care to preterm and critically-ill infants in the NICU. We are initially focused on developing digital tools designed to standardize feeding and optimize nutrition for preterm infants, particularly for those born before 34 weeks gestational age. Astarte Medical was founded in 2016, when serial entrepreneurs and venture investors partnered with a clinical scientist and other nutrition thought leaders. The company has seen 100% growth since 2019 and currently operates with $8.5M raised from top venture financing firms and 12 FTEs. NICUtrition® by Astarte Medical, is the first real-time, nutrition management support solution, designed to standardize feeding and optimize nutrition to improve outcomes specifically for preterm infants. It allows neonatology specialists, nursing professionals, dietiitans and department heads to effectively automate their health system’s feeding protocols, simplify workflows & measure compliance for more consistent quality care delivery, while leveraging predictive analytics to support data-enabled clinical decision-making for improved patient outcomes.

Pediatric use cases:

This platform is for use in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) for preterm infants born under 34 weeks gestational age.

Users:

Neonatologists, NNPs, RDNs, NICU directors, NICU nurse managers, clinical researchers.

Description:

Desai Medical Center (Elkridge, MD) has integrated ICmed into its workflow to manage patients -- especially those with chronic conditions requiring RPM -- who benefit from virtual consults and communication of educational content and directives.

Pediatric use cases:

Intentionally designed to be inclusive of the family or informal caregiver, ICmed is highly relevant in pediatric applications. Child's record is managed by the parent/guardian caregiver, and clinician can communicate both directly with the child (text, chat, video consult) and with the adult caregiver, or both simultaneously.

Differentiators

Differentiators vs EHR Functionality:

EMRs were built as billing support tools and evolved into medical data repositories. Nuanced data of clinical importance can be difficult to access and currently requires dedicated technical personnel with specific skills to partner with clinical staff in a laborious approach to extract specific data. In particular, flow sheets utilized in an intensive care setting, such as the NICU, are particularly challenging to access and review in a structured format.

NICUtrition Initial Insights was built to liberate NICU feeding, growth and diagnosis data from EMRs and provide robust visualizations showing patient milestones and outcomes metrics.

Differentiators vs Competitors:

NICUtrition is fully integrated with the EMR, enabling real-time access of granular, clinical data and the ability to deliver high quality support within existing workflow. We have developed properietary tools to augment EHR integration, supporting overtaxed IT groups within hospitals to get up and running and deliver value and return on investment in months.

Differentiators vs EHR Functionality:

While traditional EHRs serve a high purpose concentrating on capturing important patient information and facilitating communication of collected data between clinical staff, back office and insurers, usually in a language that is not comprehended by the patient community, ICmed instead concentrates on augmenting that data with two-way communication protocols to engage patients and their family or informal caregivers with the multiple clinicians and staff supporting them. Data is collected and shared with the EHR and among those participants with info-sharing rights, and the platform facilitates chats, virtual visits, RPM data collection, personalized patient education, and other value-besed care regimens.

Differentiators vs Competitors:

While there are many single-point solutions focused on the delivery of clinical care, they tend to focus on one or few modalities (behavioral health, pediatrics, hypertension, etc.) or links in the care chain (onboarding, perioperative care, home care, etc.). ICmed is a flexible platform that not only can be utilized across the spectrum of both modalities and chain links, but also provides cumulative portability of the patient record to the patient and thier family or informal caregivers. This is a key necessity in the adoption of value-based care models that will require efficiency to help providers capture revenue and control costs.
