Description

Product Description:
Pollie's flagship PCOS Program is in pilot mode. This 8 week program provides a holistic PCOS management experience for members. The program includes detailed labs, supportive care teams, a personalized PCOS Plan, and curated educational materials as a means to streamline each member's hormonal health journey.
About Pollie:
Pollie is a telehealth solution for complex chronic conditions for females. 30%+ of women have a chronic hormone, autoimmune, or digestive disorder, and yet the patient experience remains abysmal. We are starting with a digital PCOS program and will expand on a vertical basis into other conditions (e.g. thyroid disorders, amenorrhea, endometriosis). We are monetizing with a consumer subscription but in the future we'll sell to payers / partner with providers to supplement primary / OBGYN care.

Product Capabilities

Our content is checked by physicians, edited by the on-screen physician and signed off by our chief clinical advisor. The tone is non-prescriptive, for any references to medicine findings, we flag internally for an annual review to re-shoot where appropriate.

We supply in various formats (portrait, landscape), with different language dubs, subtitles, we can supply transcripts - many episodes contain visual animations. Interface is via Cloudinary, or stitched into what the existing education content tool uses.

The content architecture is designed for a provider to display content hyper-relevant to the user (language preference, orientation, gender, the condition, stage of condition)

We aim for an 8th grade reading age before a script is approved for production. It is designed to support shared decision-making & educate patients of all demographic ranges.

A GraphQL API with content hosted on Cloudinary can display content to any platform without restriction or much development work. We can also supply raw file formats to upload into existing content tools, or patient engagement products.

Use Cases

Description:

OBGYNs, PCPs, REIs / endocrinologists, and dermatologists frequently see PCOS patients. While conventional treatments can alleviate symptoms for some people (e.g., hormonal birth control, metformin) MDs do not have the time or expertise required to coach patients through the behavior change necessary to learning how to properly manage a chronic condition. By supplementing OBGYN, PCP, and other physicians' care, Pollie is a complementary solution for many offices and health systems.

Description:

Problem: Healthcare providers speak with us when existing ways to improve patient outcomes, education and engagement aren't performing. The overall objectives are:

  • Reduce readmission rates for mild to moderate patients with chronic diseases
  • Increase ennrolment or engagement with patient populations
  • Reduce no-show rate inbetween recurring scheduled visits for certain care types
  • Reduce mental health comorbidities surrounding chronic conditions
  • Improve health literacy levels
  • Reducing nonaderance

Solution: A wide range of provider organzations adopt our platform, which offers a comprehensive library of patient education materials on managing chronic conditions, including interactive video, bitesize videos, built specifically on a nano-learning model for the purpose of equity, low literacy level and information retention.

A provider licenses our platform and either integrates it into their pre-existing patient education program, directly surfaces it via a patient portal, delivers via SMS or provides access via a whitelabel platform

Patients receive access to high-quality educational resources that help them better understand their condition and how to manage it. This leads to improved patient engagement and adherence to treatment plans.

Overall, our patient education platform provides healthcare providers with a valuable tool to improve patient outcomes, engagement and satisfaction while also demonstrating success in meeting performance metrics. We're mostly attractive to risk-bearing entities, as we tie projects to tangible metrics that matter.

Differentiators

Differentiators vs EHR Functionality:

The status quo PCOS patient experience is convoluted. Diagnosis takes 2-3 years on average and even once diagnosed, patients have a fragmented experience of being treated for discrete issues by their OBGYN (e.g., irregular periods --> hormonal birth control), endocrinologist (e.g., weight / insulin resistance problems --> metformin), dermatologist (e.g., hair and skin issues --> spiro). This takes time and provides many opportunities for information to slip through the cracks.

By centralizing PCOS care in a behavior change-first way, Pollie is redefining this patient experience. Like the Livongos and Omadas of the world have done in the diabetes and general chronic disease management space, we are empowering patients (in a scalable, cost-effective way) to take control of their own health.

Differentiators vs Competitors:
  • On-demand women's health (e.g., Maven, Nurx, Rory): These players are great sources to go to if someone needs a quick UTI or birth control prescription. But, they do not provide the day-to-day support necessary for learning how to manage a chronic illness. They are more competitive with larger telehealth players (e.g. Teladoc) as well as urgent care clinics and doctor's offices.
  • Integrative primary care clinics (e.g., Tia): While patients an receive a PCOS diagnosis at these competitors, they lack scalable programs to help their patients manage these conditions. The post-diagnosis experience is quite similar to what it would be at a legacy physician office.
  • Other early hormonal health players (e.g., Allara, Paloma): While these players are great validation that now is the time to disrupt hormonal health, they are not taking a programmatic approach. More so creating a Rory / Hers experience (e.g. quick meds and provider consults if desired), just targeted at PCOS.
Differentiators vs EHR Functionality:
  • Blank canvas integration strategy with very low barriers
  • No PHI data received, collected or stored
  • Architecture designed for a multi-use case: fee isn't for one place, fee would include video branding, whitelabel platform, via SMS outreach, sent via EHR etc.
Differentiators vs Competitors:
  • The only video-first production heavy provider
  • All on-screen delivery is via a licensed clinician, typically a board-certified specialty physician
  • Raw file format possible
  • Tied licensing contracts to performance of tangible metrics, not just engagement
  • *subjective* the most invested and premium cinematic content experience available on the market, shot with, curated with and approved by physicians.
