Description

Product Description:
ivWatch is a proven technology with 40+ clinical bodies of evidence, 69 global patents, over 10 million patient monitoring hours, and 300k patients monitored. The technology uses a predictive algorithm and visible and near-infrared light to detect changes in the optical properties of the tissue around an IV site and notifies clinicians in real time to check the IV site if changes are detected. The product checks the IV sit 5x per second and can detect fluid in as little as 0.2mLs of fluid, on average 2.02mLs and is 99% sensitive for 10mLs or less. With the use of early infiltration detection technology may: • Improve patient safety and outcomes • A strong return on investment and cost savings • Reduces hospital and clinician liability • Improves patient satisfaction ratings • Advances clinical competency IV extravasation injuries are avoidable with technology.

About ivWatch

IV insertion is the most common hospital procedure, yet up to 50% of them fail, often with severe consequences ranging from dosing errors, scarring, skin staining, nerve damage, amputation, and even death. Newport News, Virginia-based ivWatch is changing that.

Founded in 2010 and holding nearly 70 patents and counting, the company has developed a first-of-its-kind Class II medical device, cleared by the FDA and CE-marked, that uses visible and near-infrared light and a predictive algorithm to continuously monitor peripheral IVs to aid in the early detection of IV leakage events, also known as infiltration and extravasation.

Applied to the skin at the IV site, ivWatch sensors perform over 18,000 checks per hour for signs of IV infiltration and extravasation, notifying healthcare workers of fluid leakage outside of the vein in real time to reduce severe adverse outcomes.

In 2024, the company surpassed more than 35 clinical proof bodies. It was also named to Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies list, the Inc. 2024 Best in Business list in the Health Products category, and was recognized by Modern Healthcare as one of its 2024 Best in Business. The company also reached the Top 3 in the 2024 Startup World Cup Grand Finale, from an initial group of over 8,000 global startups. To learn more, visit www.ivwatch.com.

Product Description:

All virtual sitters are not created equal: Our patented AI-Enabled E-Sitter is the most powerful and intuitive inpatient telemedicine solution available.

We offer the only virtual sitter enabling providers to monitor numerous rooms at once, as well as the first fully hands-free software powered solely through movement and voice. Leveraging artificial intelligence to close gaps in care, ramp up efficiencies, enhance human interactions, and address provider shortages head-on, our solution is built to scale hospital- and system-wide.

Advanced features, including SmartView and MultiView, help improve staff retention and patient satisfaction, in addition to the bottom line for hospital systems. Our patented architecture conserves data transmitted over networks, then activates video upon an alert, minimizing network requirements by approximately 20-fold compared to video streaming. This is an essential feature for the future where TV kits replace carts, enabling 24/7 monitoring across the hospital.

Use Cases

Description:

ivWatch is cleared for use on any body mass, skin tone, age group and any PIV site.

Although infiltration rates vary across studies, published evidence suggests that peripheral IV failure rates—including infiltration—can exceed 50%, with some studies reporting rates up to 80% in high-risk neonatal populations. This makes early detection and prevention a critical aspect of neonatal care.

The system scans the site five times per second, resulting in about 18,000 assessments per hour. In contrast, manual inspection of IV sites is typically conducted once per hour or even less frequently, depending on staffing and protocols. While the Infusion Nurses Society (INS) recommends routine and frequent assessments, these are still bound by human limitations and are objective. The system continuously monitors the IV insertion site and identifies subtle changes in tissue characteristics—such as fluid accumulation—by analyzing shifts in light absorption and reflection. These changes often occur before any visible or palpable signs appear.

The system provides a real-time, objective alert when tissue changes suggest infiltration or extravasation, prompting timely and focused clinician evaluation.

Differentiators vs EHR Functionality:

Vitalchat is intended to be an integrated "API" enabling video on demand. The software is compatible with Epic Monitor along with many other softwares including infotainment, acute care RPM, nurse call, ect. Vitalchat is part of the ecosystem enabling ambient intelligence in the hospital room.

Differentiators vs Competitors:

Low cost- there are no third party vendorslicenses.

Software first, hardware second- we can use commodity hardware or often our competitors end points reducing the need for rip and replace.

A solution going across the continuum from operating room to home, leveraging the right end point for the right business use case.

Optimized bandwidth consumption- roughly 15 fold less than most of the competitors.

Our own AI allowing easy integration and rapid training with lower cost.

Ease of integration- built to go into other application within days.
